About 10 years ago, back in 2015 or so, I wanted to start a new business…
Making candles, body butters, bath salts and a few other things. I had an idea for the name of Heart Finds from seeing people post about finding hearts out in nature and I have attempted to do the same thing through the years. I then thought, how fun would it be to put random hearts of some sort in my products?! I have yet to do that, but after resurrecting the business of making these things in 2024, I decided to stick with the name I had come up with so many years ago. I now feel like the name gives the idea of something you love, being found, at that right moment in time for you to enjoy. My goal has always been to help people with natural products that have simple, wholesome ingredients.
When I decided to start back up this business idea at the end of 2024, I actually had a very stair stepped approach to where I am at now, just a few short months later. A fellow new business in town wanted to start up a farmer’s market and I decided to jump on the idea. I started with selling gluten free baked goods, mainly cookies and granola, and freeze dried fruit, then added in salsa and finally, the tallow skincare. I have really enjoyed being at the farmer’s market every week, but wanted to do just a little more! (continued below)
So I decided to try out the Fredericksburg Trade Days, which is a 3 day weekend event, once a month. I started in March in a cute little enclosed cabin like spot, I thought it was perfect, with air conditioning inside! But we ultimately decided it wasn’t quite right to sell in that spot, so we ended up changing gears and selling food (sandwiches, soups & salads) out of the spot instead. Then, in April, our debut of serving food, our next door neighbor, who had the perfect outdoor spot, was selling their building. I decided I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity, so it is now the May show, and here we are, all set up with everything!.
